What Did You Just Say??

Help! My 7 year old has a trash mouth! Okay, I'm exaggerating. She really doesn't, but she sure did shock me last night. I let the girls stay up late to watch the finale of American Idol. (Some may think I'm a bad mom for letting them stay up so late, but they just have such a passion for music-so I caved.)
Anyways, back to the story! We were anxiously awaiting Adam's performance.
He came out onto the stage in this outfit-
Sunshine girl looks at the screen and says......
"What the hell is he wearing?"

Mom: "What did you just say?"
Sunshine: "I said- What the hell is he wearing?"
Mom: "Oh my- honey- you can't say that."
Sunshine: "Why?" puzzled look on her face.
Mom: "Just don't say it- it's not nice. Where did you here that anyways?"
Sunshine: "I'm not sure." (And then she apologized for using bad language. Her little face was priceless.)

Of course, I marched right up stairs to interrogate hubby who claims he does not say that phrase. And then we laughed together, because it was funny to hear this come out of her mouth so casually like it was nothing. I think she learned her lesson, though.

Have a wonderful day!

The same thing came out of G's mouth at age 4. "What the hell is that?!" he asked. He too, was mortified that he had said something not nice, once I explained to him that he had. :)

Ha! Reminds me of when I taught Kindergarten. A little girl learning English as her third language raised her hand at the end of the day. I called on her and she said, "What the hell do we have for homework?" Just as innocent as could be! I guess she was learning English alright!

Ok, I have to ask. She does understand EXACTLY what words she's not supposed to say, right? Because when I was about 4, I got in trouble for asking "Where in the hell are we going". For years after that, I couldn't figure out what was so wrong about asking where we were going!!

Bev-
That's a cute story, but you poor thing not knowing what you said wrong. Anyways,I did explain which word wasn't right to say so that she won't do it again. Take Care and thanks for stopping by!

So funny! About 6 years ago, my now 10 year old was riding in the back of our van when my husband hit the brakes suddenly to avoid a collision. We heard her yell from the back of the van: "What the hell?" Unfortunately, we laughed right that minute! She has since cleaned up her language.:)
