Cookie Monster Birthday Party!

Little man turned 2 or as he would say.. "twooooooo" last week! We threw him a Cookie Monster/Sesame Street themed birthday party.  All of the toddlers/preschoolers seemed to have a great time!  I kept it small, because I wanted them to enjoy each other and not be so overwhelmed.  Also, I knew we would be having a lot of family over the next evening as well.
Here are a couple of pictures and ideas if you are interested in throwing your own Cookie Monster party....

I baked the cupcakes and printed out clip art that I pasted to card stock. Then I attached them to toothpicks to put in the cupcakes.  For favors, I used cookie crisp cereal that I wrapped in small bags. (see the Sesame Street cups) Also, I wrapped little Sesame Street books for each child that I found at the dollar tree.

Love this Cookie Monster balloon that I found at the local party store!

For Games and Activities...
We played feed Cookie monster a cookie. (our version of pin the tail of the donkey) I made the Cookie Monster above with poster board and construction paper.  The cookies I already had from a great Sesame Street Learning Kit that I had purchased on Time for Tots. (kit shown below)

We also sang C is for Cookie and danced to Sesame Street music.  Lots of Sesame Street toddler toys for play and coloring pages, too!

Yeah, my little man turned 2!  Hi five for Mommy!

Happy 2nd Birthday to my little man! Boy have these two years flown by! He brings so much joy to our household.
Enjoy your day!

Monster Mash!

The Monster Mash, Do the monster mash.....

What a great time we had yesterday at Sunshine's Monster Mash birthday party! Boy am I wiped out from monster foaming, dancing, entertaining, etc.- but so glad that I did. Most of my decorations were made from my craft stash and recyclables. I found great monster clip art online for just 75 cents that was great for the invites and decorations. Enjoy the tour of the party, but beware of the monsters!

COSTUMES

Sunshine was a werewolf. Quite a few draculas attended, as well as a Freddy Kruger(yeesh)-luckily the kids didn't know who he is- which means they never saw the film. There was also a frankenstein, a few skeletons, and some witches in attendance. Even little man dressed up!

This is the T-shirt that I painted for Little Man. He wore a little head band with eyeballs on it- so cute.

DECORATIONS

FOOD-YUMMY!
I served witches brew with gummy bugs, cheese fingers and monster eyeballs. For dessert, we had cyclops cupcakes and a 3 eyed monster cake.

ACTIVITIES
The kids created monster balloons, played hot potato with monster music, and pin the eyeball on the monster. They were able to feel ogre brains, eyeballs, guts, and fingers. The monster foaming experiment was a big hit and messy! It got a bit rowdy with monster dancing, too.

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday, Dear Daddy, Happy Birthday to you!

The girls baked Dad a cake today, made homemade cards, and then we are off to surprise him at work. The photo above is the result of his older sisters torturing their baby brother. Poor kid! I'll post b-day photos of the girls' cake, etc. later.

We are very excited to be celebrating Daddy's birthday in the Creative and Curious Kids household! (Oh and we can't forget Uncle Denny.(Dad's identical twin)
Happy Birthday, Uncle Denny!

Party Favor: Pixie Flowers

I'd love to take credit for this adorable idea, but I have to admit that I found it in Family Fun Magazine. This favor was oh so simple and very inexpensive. The $ store came in handy again!

Materials
*silk flowers (depending on the number of guests invited will depend how many bunches you will need. They were $1 a bunch.)
*pixie stick candy ($1 a bag- more than enough)
*tape
*scissors

1. Cut individual flowers from the bunch of silk flowers.

2. Tape a pixie stick to the stem of the flower.

3. Optional- add ribbon or a thank you or name tag to the flower.

As you can see in the above basket(top), you can use the favors as decoration until handing out at the end of the party.

Oh how I love that family fun magazine!

How to Make an Inexpensive Fairy Wand

Materials:
Foam flowers (comes in a package of 25)
Velvet Fairy Stickers
pom poms
ribbon
markers
glue
glitter glue (optional)
garden sticks

(I found most of the above supplies at the $ store in bulk packs- great for our party craft- enough supplies for all of the kiddos to make a wand. Some supplies I had on hand- glue, etc.)

Have the kids decorate the flower part of the wand first w/ the above materials.

Next, use your glue gun to glue ribbon and the flower part to the garden stick.

Peanut and her friends really enjoyed this craft at the fairy party. Some of the older kid's wands were more elaborate. The one pictured above is Peanut's creation.

Simple and Inexpensive!

If you missed the Fairy party photos, you'll have to go and take a peek at my fairy princess- boy did she look adorable! (yes, I know I'm biased-because I'm the momma. But I think you'll agree.)

Take Care!
