First Day of School!

Mixed emotions.. about this new adventure!  Happy and excited, but a few tears, too!  Prayers for my girls for a wonderful day, new friendships, and new experiences.

When does your little one start school?  Are you homeschooling or sending them to school this year?

Pillow Fight!

A couple of weeks ago, we had a guest for a slumber party to kick-off the end of summer and to greet the start of the school year.  We had a fire, smores, watched a movie, and while I was trying to get the baby to bed the kids decided to have a loud pillow fight.  How silly did I feel for disciplining them about having a pillow fight at a slumber party!  - but things change when there is a baby in the house.

The next morning after fruit and cinnamon buns, I decided that it would be fun to bring on the pillow fight!  After a couple of swats in the face, I changed the rules.  You got a point every time you swatted someone in the buns- and not our cinnamon buns.  So our battle began- and so was created bum pillow fighting!  No one got hurt and we had a good laugh at our new game!

And for our next slumber party adventure, I might just have to check out this book.  It looks adorable!
Enjoy your day,

Little Red School Chairs

Oh, I'm so excited!  I love how these red chairs turned out.  A few people questioned as to whether I really wanted to paint the chairs red when I shared my idea.  I'm so glad that I did.  I think they are perfect for our little school room.  The girls helped momma out a bit, too.

Isn't it amazing what  a little love can do to a crappy old chair?

Let me know what you think!

Lunchables Lunch Note Promise

I started putting cute little notes in my children's lunchboxes during the first week of school to help them adjust and to put a smile on their faces.
(Click here if you missed this post:Secret Messages) Now, they ask me to write them a note everyday and look forward to their lunchtime messages. While reading an article online today, I came across a website that is filled with a lot of creative ideas for lunch box notes. Even better though, when you promise to put a note in your child's lunchbox, they will donate a lunch to another child. So get busy putting a smile on your child's face while helping others! Head on over to Lunchables Lunch Note Promise and pledge to write your child a note. Don't forget to check out all of the neat ideas!

Enjoy your day!

Secret Messages!

Do you want to make your child smile?

Leave them a secret message! Place a small note wrapped in a napkin in your child's lunch box to let them know that you are thinking of them.

Each day of the first week of school, my girls got a different message in their lunch box. We referred to them as secret messages, which made it fun for them. Some ideas for notes: I love you, a big hug from mom, U R great, U R awesome, So proud of you, Hope your day is going well, etc. Decorate with little hearts or smiles. For early-readers, keep notes as simple as possible. They can also get help reading from an older sibling or friend.

Guess who the secret messenger is this week? Dad. He left the cutest notes for them this morning with stick figures of him holding their hands. So sweet!

Tip: Cut out little squares and make the notes ahead of time at the beginning of the week so that they are ready to go.

Have a great day blogger buddies!
