Hearts of Kindness
This Valentine's Day, teach your kids about the true meaning of love by having them do acts of kindness for others. Talk to your children about what it means to love others. Discuss ways that we can show others love.
Cut out 10 Valentine Hearts and write random acts on each heart. Here are some suggestions:
1. Do something kind for a neighbor.
2. Give an adult in your school a piece of chocolate and tell them why they are
special.
3. Hug everyone in your family and tell them one thing that you love about them.
4. Call someone and tell them that you love them.
5. Pray for someone.
6. Make a homemade Valentine for a friend.
7. Do something kind for your sister.
8. Draw a picture for a neighbor.
9. Write a letter to someone you care about and send it in the mail.
10. Be kind to yourself- think about what makes you special!
Each day or every other day, have your child pick a heart and encourage them to do the act of kindness on the heart. Parents can also get involved by doing acts of kindness for others.
Take Care,
Jen

Dancing and Singing with Raffi
Oh, how my girls loved Raffi when they were little! It has been a long time since we've sang with him. Our days have been filled with Hannah Montana, Taylor Swift, and the Jonas Brothers, so I was excited to get our my dusty Raffi CD (Raffi: Baby Beluga ) out yesterday to play for the baby. My girls who are "way too cool" for Raffi, enjoyed sharing their old favorites with our new baby. He seemed to enjoy dancing in my arms and listening to the lyrics. It was great to see my girls laughing and dancing along as well.

Create a Snow Person
Lately, we've been in survival mode taking care of a newborn and two older siblings, so the older children have been spending way too much time with their electronics. So when the baby was asleep the other day, I quickly threw together a quick creative craft- making snow people! The girls had a lot of fun and Mom and Dad decided to get our creative juices flowing as well. The kids also enjoyed spending this time with us.
To make snow people with your family, you will need the following:
Materials:
White paper
Glue
A variety of craft materials
Scissors
Circular containers to trace
Markers/crayons
Directions:
Using different sized circular containers, trace 3 different sized circles. Cut out for younger children. Older children can cut out their circles.
Have your child glue the circles together to create a snowman.
Next, have your child use a variety of craft materials to decorate their snow person. Encourage creativity by brainstorming ideas for their snow person- ballerina, football player, mother, etc.
Peanuts Snowgirl with a fancy skirt and earrings. After finishing her Snow people, Peanut had fun playing with them. She has quite the imagination!
Sunshine's Hawaiian Snowgirl with a fancy fabric hat.
Sunshine enjoyed making this traditional Snowman!
